Alejandra Orellana-Rinaldi
Internship
Barcelona, Spain January - April 2024
While studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain, I attended classes at CEA CAPA and interned for a small event hosting company called Espai Granada. This experience was from January to April of 2024.
As a marketing intern my responsibilities were to create and capture content for the companies Instagram and Facebook accounts, designing menus for events and creating and sending monthly newsletters out to clients/customers updating them on plans and events. I also worked during events, helping set up and clean up, while getting content. This experience allowed me to creatively think and step outside of the box when it came to design; there was a lot of flexibility that taught me responsibility and instilled a new level of confidence when it came to taking risks and learning from mistakes.
Although I already speak Spanish, working in Barcelona exposed me to an entirely new culture that went beyond language. I learned different communication styles, customer engagement strategies and work culture. This challenged me to become even more openminded and understanding in the way I created content to ensure the audiences' needs were being met.
Getting to do this internship strengthened my marketing skills and cultural awareness. I had to learn to adapt quickly and work effectively in a completely different country. Not only did I grow professionally, but I grew a deeper appreciation for new cultures and business perspectives.
Below my internship report is attached.
